Where Y’At, originally by Trombone Shorty and rearranged here by Brian Plautz, has been a staple of Aberdeen’s live performances, often used to open up the shows with a bang. Tenor saxophonist Jared Yee plays a blazing solo, leading the tune into a cacophony of horn ad libs and a heavy breakdown section, ending with ethereal and cinematic guitars and percussion. Trombone Shorty has been a long time inspiration for Aberdeen and this is the band’s way of acknowledging that influence.
